Shirt Reconstruction

YAY! Its just about summer time! My favorite season because of all the fun things you get to do! Anyway, I've been busy lately.. I've somewhat reorganized my craft stuff (end of the season spring cleaning, lol!) and I've been trying to finish up my WIP.. Here are is a picture of the DONE bridesmaid dress...
and the backside...

I looooove the big bow in the back! :) I even added sequin to the rainbow sash.. just to make it stand out..

Cute, right? :) I also refinished my Minnie Mouse dress. I oringally made the dress in like 5 hours or so for gig we were going to. Needless to say, its was a disaster.

And here is after i redid it...

This one is for me.. for obvious reasons, but I really like the way it came out so I may try and use this same style for some dresses to sell in the near future. :)

Okay, now on to my main topic.. I recently desided to test my creativity with some deconstruction/reconstruction! Mind you, this is the first one I've ever made, so I chose the shirts I thought were cute! :p I picked both of these up at Goodwill for $1.99. I didn't like the price but I like helping out the Goodwill and it was a weekday so there wasn't any yardsales..

I look horrible in the photos, so ignore me... :p First I cut up the into pieces and put them together to make the main part of the recon shirt..

Then I added lace for the straps and a scrap of light green fabricfor the lower area..

Then I used ribbon with lace on top for the tie in the middle.

And I added lace to the top trim and glittered up the sea animals... and ta da! Final product!

My favorite part of this shirt is knowing that a little kid probably made the artwork on the original shirt.... that, and well I love the sea and everything in it so it captured my heart. :) After I look into somethings I will really have some things to share on here but I have to do a little research first. ;)

Well, 2 WIP are done and I have 3 to go!! After reading other crafters blogs, I've been totally inspired to try new things when I have a chance and the supplies to do so! One I recently read was about entering projects into the local fair! So that's exactly what I'm going to do!!! It sounds fun and even if you don't win, its a good way to get your name out there! My little craft business is kind of a baby step in the career plan I have... I can't even begin to explain it to you because its so complex. You'll just have to stay tuned and watch it all unfold. ;)

Til next time,
Ashley

Summer Time!

Well, well, well... summer time is practically here! And guess what that means??? Time for cute summery clothes, trips to the beach, pool parties, and lovely warm evenings! One of my favorite things about the summer is going to scuba dive, altho I can't this summer.. so instead I've been designing some summer attire and some other fun summer stuff. :) So here is the first drawings of some summer swimsuits I plan on making!

I also finished 2 of my works in progress! Clearing up the clutter! I hate having so many started but not finished projects... its been driving me nuts! :p Now what to try to finish next... the quicker I finish them, the sooner I can move on to new stuff. :p

Always havin' fun,
Ashley

Works in progress..

Eeeeek! I've been a busy girl! Trying to finish all kinds of projects I started and just didn't have time or product to finish.. Here are a couple of my recent creations. First, a sweet simple summer dress I made for my bestie.. :)
I also made her this one.. and then desided it was so pretty that I wanted to sell a few so this is my newest item available on Etsy!

but the back part is my favorite...

I also finished a shirt for myself that I've had on my craft desk for a while.

And I also just finished doing my very first "reconstructed" shirt! It came out super cute!! I'll post a blog on the full process withing the next few days so you can see the before and after. But for now here is the after..

It has a ton of glitter on it, but you can't really tell in this picture. I plan on taking better after pictures anyway. :p
Here is some pictures of my current works in progress. Don't judge, they aren't done yet.. First up is what I call the "bridesmaid dress" because I am making these dresses for the bridesmaids in my wedding! This is the first run that I made for me.. I even made it big enough to fit my pregnant tummy for the summer.. anyways, its ALMOST done.. I'm just adding some sequins to the front.

Next up is the Christmas dress I haven't been able to finish yet because I didn't have a zipper. So I finally got around to buying a zipper and all I have to do is pop that baby in and finish up the bow!
The picture was taken in bad lighting and on a phone camera so its not the best but ill take better ones after I finish it and put it up for sale on Etsy! Next up is a Minnie Mouse dress I made in just a few hours for a Disney banquet I went to.. I didn't put a zipper in and crammed myself into it and then couldnt get out of it so Ricky had to cut me out of it. Sooooo lesson learned, put in a zipper when the fabric isn't stretchy! :p Anyways, I still need to add the zipper and I am also gonna add some cuteness to it... so stay tuned!
The last two items I'm going to share but I'm not going to say much about. This first one is the beginning of a costume I'm making for a contest. Its a big time work in progress, and prolly won't be done for a while but its ok because the contest isn't until Halloween.

And lastly, I am gonna show you a preveiw of something I am making for my bestie. She supports me in everything I do and I love her so much. :) I know she is reading this so she gets a lil preview. I ment to finish it a while ago but life has been so crazy lately that I'm barely catching up! Anyway... here is a preview to her suprise. :D its gonna be WAY cooler when its done.. this is just the foundation!
Hope you like it so far Sylvia! Anyways.. all this is just a scratch on the surface of all the projects I have going on. I am also going to be making and selling swimsuits and will have some up very soon for preview and sale on Etsy! My o my, a crafters work is never done! I have a notebook with a list of things (including Christmas)! Better get on it I suppose! :)

Always having fun!

Etsy!

So I am officially opening shop on Etsy! I have plenty of ready made projects and I now have a bit more time to dedicate to the cause so I'm doing it! Yay! Right now I have 3 items up for sale and I'm going to try and add a new item every couple of days! :) I'm also going to be blogging on here as often as possible. <3 So if you haven't became a follower, do it! :) You know you want to! I have tons of exciting things coming up on the agenda! <3 In the meantime, go check out my Etsy shop!

http://www.etsy.com/shop/missakl?ref=seller_info

Here is what is up for sale so far...
Zebra shirt ~ $17.88

Pom Pom Pink Leg Warmers ~ $8.00

Zebra Glitter Lamp ~ $45.13

And today, I am putting up scrub shirt!

Its only going to be $10 because well, I love nurses for everything they do. My soon to be mother-in-law is a nurse at CHOC hospital and my senior year in high school I took a  certified nursing assistant program so I know a little bit about what they do on a daily basis. I could never do it. And then I was talking to Wanda (mother-in-law) about how I could add some "character" to the scrubs and sell them for a bit cheaper. So if you know any nurses who want to look cute, send them to my little Etsy shop! There are going to be plenty more scrubs of all differing types popping up soon! <3
